We have all been there. You’re standing in front of your closet with a multitude of individual pieces in front of you and you feel like you have nothing to wear. It’s not that you lack options, it’s just that there are too many combinations but none of them feel like that “perfect” outfit in that moment. Even worse is when you get all excited about your new purchase from the store, but once you get it home you realize you have no idea what to pair it with. Let’s face it, we all know that feeling, and it only gets worse once you need to start picking out your accessories.
Sisters, Jennifer and Jessica, have come up with a solution to this problem. Their new online store, Citrus Hill Clothing Boutique, aims at taking the guesswork out of creating an outfit. Every Tuesday and Thursday there will be a new OOTD (outfit of the day) featured on the website. You can mix & match your sizes for tops and bottoms to what best fits you. Once you’ve added the outfit to your cart you can go ahead and visit the “Add-On” page. Here is where you can decide which accessories you would like to include. Options will vary from jewellery, hats, sunglasses, bags and more!
Outfits will generally range from $50-$75, but that can vary depending on the brands being featured. Add on prices range as well, but so far the top end seems to be $10.
Every three weeks the “Ala Carte” section is updated. This is where the outfits are broken up and the remaining inventory is available for individual purchase. This is a great page to watch if you like an individual piece, but there is no promise that your size will make it that long!
Shipping is free for all US purchases over $50 and $5.25 for anything under. Shipping to Canada is currently $18 but that is subject to change.
This post has been pending for some time just waiting for pictures. Ian and I have both been dealing with some nasty colds so it ended up being delayed. Then this nice weather we had earlier this week turned into cold, windy, and cloudy. Oh, and there was something VERY snow/frozen rain like coming down for a bit yesterday. I’m counting down the days until I can start doing outdoor photos again with nice backgrounds. Today though, you will deal with my hallway, but with me feeling mostly better except for the band-aid on my finger thanks to a watermelon incident this morning.
Olive Skinny Jeans ($35)–These jeans by Celebrity Pink are a mid-rise skinny jean with a 30″ inseam. I have so many thoughts and opinions about these jeans, so let’s get right into it. First I want to say, I HATE buying jeans. They are seriously my biggest struggle. I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of black jeans for months now with no luck because the sizing and fit are always off for me. It’s the only clothing item that I ever dread having to shop for, and I’ve been severely lacking in the pant department because of that. I have never tried any Celebrity Pink jeans on before so I had no premise to go off of for sizing either. They are also a juniors brand which seems to make the fit even more difficult! Thankfully, there was some size discussion on their Facebook group. Based on what others in my size range said, and what one of the owners said about her experience, I took a risk. I went for it.
Am I EVER glad that I did! These pants are amazing. I knew the size I was getting was a risk but I probably could have even sized down once more, which is a crazy concept for me. They are buttery soft and extremely stretchy. I often have issues with pants being comfortable on my calves, thighs, hips and waist all at the same time. While these are a bit lose in the waist, I’d say they fit pretty dang amazing! I think you can see in some spots where they are a bit looser by the wrinkles in the fabric, but really that usually happens with me on bottoms. They are a bit long, but I can either tuck them into booties, like in the picture or cuff them a bit.
I’m also loving the colour. I don’t have anything like this and it’s a great addition to my wardrobe.
Okay, enough gushing over the pants (but seriously, go buy them) time to talk about the top!
Tie Dye Two-Way Tank ($25)–I definitely don’t have as strong of feelings towards this top as I do to the pants, but it’s still a win for me. What’s best about this top though? You can wear it backwards and forwards! This is by Cherish, which is a brand I’ve heard a lot about but haven’t had any personal experience with. I will say that I prefer the open part to the front as the drape makes it a bit longer. You can easily tuck the ties into the shirt so you don’t have to worry about them dangling and getting in the way. This top is really soft and I like the tie-dye pattern. That seems to be pretty popular lately and this is a nice and subtle way to add some into your wardrobe. I like that this top is also loose fitting, totally perfect if you’re going to be hitting up a patio with some friends to enjoy a few indulgences.
The top and jeans were the base pieces of this outfit. Customers also had the option to add on a white bralette and necklace. I opted out of this for a couple of reasons. First, the bralette is “one size fits most”. Yes, it will fit most. I often do not usually fall under the category of “most” though, especially with that particular style. I do own a few different styles of bralettes already so I was okay with skipping that item. I actually used a black bralette that I already had for the above pictures. I did hem and haw a bit over the necklace but ultimately decided against it. It’s a really great looking necklace, but I have so many. So, so many.
I think it’s great that they make the accessories optional. Since the clothing is offered in a range of sizes they are easier to suite to different body types. The accessories are much more difficult since they come in only one size and colour, and people may have different preferences with jewellery.
So far this is the only outfit I’ve purchased, but I definitely don’t think it will be my last. There have been a lot of cute items posted and the prices have seemed really fair. I recommend that you join their Facebook group. Here you will see sneak peeks, meet other clothing obsessed women and get to know the owners. They are also quick at answering any questions you may have about the company or specific clothing pieces.
